Diane Coia-Ramsay

Diane Coia-Ramsay was raised in the United Kingdom and spent much of her childhood in the Highlands of Scotland, where she developed a lifelong fascination with the history, culture, and traditions of Scotland and England. Surrounded by landscapes rich in stories of the past, she cultivated an early passion for historical research that would later become the foundation of her writing career.

For many years, Diane has immersed herself in the social history of the Regency and Victorian eras, with a particular interest in the lives of women whose ambitions, intelligence, and resilience often clashed with the rigid expectations of their time. The restrictions imposed upon women, their determination to challenge convention, and the gradual path toward greater independence and emancipation remain central themes throughout her work.

An accomplished historical novelist, Diane is the author of eight novels, including Portia’s Baron, An Improbable Alliance, Bernadette Barrymore, The Good Barrister, Loving Leopold, and A Woman of Little Consequence. Her novels combine meticulous historical research with compelling storytelling, bringing to life the social complexities, personal struggles, and triumphs of individuals navigating a rapidly changing world.

Through richly drawn characters and authentic historical settings, Diane explores themes of courage, love, justice, social change, and the enduring strength of women who dared to forge their own paths. Her work invites readers not only to experience the past but also to reflect on the progress achieved through the determination of those who challenged societal boundaries.

Now residing in the United States, Diane continues to research and write historical fiction, sharing her passion for history through stories that illuminate both the extraordinary events and the deeply human experiences that shaped the nineteenth century.
